Who We Are

The Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on 11th March, 2011.
More than 19,000 people died or were missing for the earthquake and the tsunami.
After the disaster, there were the nuclear accidents at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and there are many evacuees.

To support the victims Sendai Diocese Support Center (SDSC) was set up immediately after the earthquake and started the operation.
In April, 2011 Catholic Tokyo Volunteer Center (CTVC) was set up to organize volunteers from Tokyo metropolitan area.

CTVC has been linking volunteers with SDSC. We recruit volunteers and dispatch them to the disaster areas.
We are providing not only physical support and daily goods, but also various supports collaborating with local Catholic churches such as active listening and teatime to chat so that the evacuees will not be isolated.
